CVG Takes Off

With high growth cargo volume over the last three years, increasing passenger volumes and the number of flights up nearly 10% over a year ago, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is an important economic driver in the Cincy Region.

British Airways’ direct service to London Heathrow Airport from CVG started in June and Delta announced it will increase direct service to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport from its current three times per week to daily from June through August 2024.

CVG is the fastest growing cargo airport in the world, with 70% growth over the last five years.

To continue this growth, the airport has a vison to develop 350 acres of airside real estate called Hangar Row on the airport’s south side of campus. The project’s goal is to create a one-stop-shop on airport property with the development of additional aircraft repair and maintenance operations.

North Cargo Village Project at CVG

Development of the North Cargo Village allows CVG to continue to grow and diversify cargo operations. The airport is working with freight forwarders, developers, and other organizations that specialize in general cargo activity: shipping large parcels and high-value goods without time-sensitive delivery requirements. These businesses would complement Amazon’s and DHL’s express shipping operations at CVG. The airport is leveraging federal investments to rehab airfield pavements to support aircraft parking and cross dock capabilities at the planned new developments.
