FUN.com, an online retailer selling everything from costumes and backpacks to collectibles and home decor, cut the ribbon on their third United States distribution center in Elsmere, strengthening its presence on the East Coast.

The company’s top-selling products will soon ship from this site to millions of homes throughout the world.

“This facility can reach the entire East Coast from Boston to Miami with two-day ground shipping. Imagine how many more families we’ll be able to deliver monster memories to!,” said FUN.com CEO Tom Fallenstein. “We are equally excited to create memorable experiences for our incoming Elsmere, Kentucky, team members. We like to think of ourselves as being pretty awesome. Each day we get up, ride scooters, and do what we love, being our FUN-of-a-kind selves.”

FUN.com, along with its sister site HalloweenCostumes.com, is one of the top e-commerce companies in the country. It was founded in 1992 in Mankato, Minnesota, by sisters Julie and Lisa Fallenstein.

“FUN.com is a family-owned, U.S.-headquartered company, I congratulate Tom and Julie Fallenstein on the success and expansion of their business,” said CEO Lee Crume, BE NKY Growth Partnership. “Northern Kentucky offers many logistical advantages to companies in a diverse array of industries with our transportation and air infrastructure that provide access to more than 54% of the U.S. population within a day’s drive and shipping around the globe.”

The opening of this new office and distribution center will create 10-15 full-time jobs, and hundreds of seasonal positions.

“Family-owned businesses like FUN.com employ 60% of the U.S. workforce. This new 285,000 sq ft warehouse not only brings jobs to our region; it joins the array of unique companies that are calling the NKY Metro home,” said NKY Chamber President and CEO Brent Cooper. “We’re thrilled to welcome FUN.com to the Northern Kentucky business community and are excited for the Fallensteins to bring their “Fun-of-a-kind” business to the region.”

FUN.com has licenses to sell merchandise from many popular franchises and organizations, including Harry Potter, Star Wars, the NFL, Barbie, and more. To meet growing customer demand, this new site will store and ship three times the number of products compared to its current facilities.

This distribution center on Garvey Avenue is part of Core5 Industrial Partners’ Airport East Logistics Center development. This building is the third of five planned for the site.

“We are excited to welcome FUN.com and its third office and distribution center to the City of Elsmere,” said Mayor Marty Lenhof. “We know the company looked at other locations and are proud they will serve their customers in the Midwest and the East Coast, starting with this season’s Halloween costumes, from Northern Kentucky.”

The company’s core values, which make up the foundation of their organization, include focusing on the positive, being humble, embracing nerdy, goofy fun, and never being complacent.

“FUN.com’s headquarters has been named a Top Workplace for many years in a row which is a tribute to the culture the Fallensteins have created,” noted Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann. “We welcome the company to Kenton County and look forward to it becoming a corporate member of our community.”
