I got to Cincinnati through my company, which I’ve been with for over 17 years, the Disabled American Veterans.

And I came to the Cincinnati area with my husband. I had a salon in Maryland. I sold when we decided to move here.

It was an easy decision to make the commitment to move to the Northern Kentucky area, but we fell in love with it really quickly. We were amazed to see how many businesses that were open: restaurants, retail stores, and malls, just thriving. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that there’s probably a partnership there between the community and the business. They are both invested in making sure that this area stays successful.

I love the neighborhood that we live in. The housing here is different from Maryland. I think you get more for your money here. The culture here is not a lot of bourgeois, it’s just very family-oriented. And that’s what we like about it.

One of the things that strikes me the most is really just how friendly your neighbors are. People just really take the time for one another in the area. And unlike other places, it just seems like we’re really vested in our communities.

When I have family and friends come in, the first thing we want is brunch. I like Maple Street Biscuit over in Florence. Take them there for brunch, then I take them to Jungle Jim’s, because I love Jungle Jim’s. It’s like a whole day affair.

In our community, I like Zozos, and I like the local ice cream options.

I love the farmer’s market. I really love Kentucky.

There are a lot of events that draw you outside, a lot of activities, fairs, and concerts. You can just turn your phone on, and there’s always something going on in the area.
