Olivia Tyre, a student in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati, completed an internship at BE NKY during the fall 2021 semester. Olivia jumped into economic development with both hands – designing infographics, editing site videos and interviews for the BE NKY YouTube channel and taking new headshots for our team. We appreciate all of Olivia’s hard work and wish her the best!

  1. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned since joining BE NKY?

I learned just how much goes into economic development in a community. I had no background in anything related to economic development before working at BE NKY, so it was really eye opening to learn just how many people and partners are involved in making everything work smoothly, which is cool!

  2. What’s your favorite BE NKY memory?

My favorite BE NKY memory would have to be the day-to-day interaction with all my coworkers. I really enjoyed interacting with everyone and being able to get to know them. I have always enjoyed the energy in the office because of them.

  3. What is Northern Kentucky’s best kept secret?

I feel like there is so much to do in this area, especially close to Newport on the Levee, that I was completely unaware of before I started working at BE NKY. I really enjoy the social aspect of the community, and I wish more people, especially my age, knew about it!

  4. What’s your favorite Cincinnati-style food or restaurant?

There is a little shop in Covington called Moonrise Doughnuts that makes fresh doughnuts each night and they are to die for! They’re only open in the evenings but that just makes it that much more fun. My friends and I love to check out what new flavors they have when we go.
