Electronics Engineering and Production in Northern Kentucky
Electronics engineering and manufacturing involves the direct fabrication of semiconductors and related technologies or the final assembly of component parts produced by third parties. Given the wide variety of electronics applications, the manufacturing sector serves a variety of industries, including automotive (sensors), information technology (servers and telecom equipment), packaging, manufacturing and energy (solar panels).
Education
There are 25 four-year colleges/universities and 11 community and technical colleges located about 75 miles from Northern Kentucky. Business leaders cite the talent – dedication, education, and training combined with a willingness to learn – as a major asset for NKY.
Throughout the Cincinnati region, NKU, Thomas More University, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and Miami University provide leading engineering, business and technology talent to companies in the region. The talent pipeline features 5,500 engineering graduates per year within a 75-minute drive of NKY and rapidly growing manufacturing technician programs at Gateway Community & Technical College.
In a 2021 report from San Francisco-based CodeSignal, Miami was ranked No. 2 among U.S. colleges for coding assessments, ahead of Carnegie Mellon and Columbia University.
