FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin today congratulated FEAM Aero on the groundbreaking of its new 103,000-square-foot hangar in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), which will create 100 high-paying jobs with an $19 million investment.
“The commonwealth’s aviation and aerospace industries are soaring, and the addition of this FEAM Aero hangar in Hebron is the latest evidence of that upward trajectory,” Gov. Bevin said. “Capitalizing on our status as a first-class North American logistics hub, this company already supports major Kentucky firms like DHL and Amazon. We are grateful for FEAM Aero’s commitment to the Bluegrass State and look forward to seeing them take their business to new heights here in the commonwealth.”
The hangar, expected to be completed by 2020, will be used for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of various aircraft, specifically 747-800 aircraft. FEAM Aero also plans to relocate FAA certification to CVG in an effort to allow the company to operate in coordination with FAA agents representing the region. The project will be overseen by Lynxs Group, which develops, invests and manages assets for airports and financial investors, including air cargo and logistics facilities, MRO facilities and hangars and other business entities.
FEAM currently operates at CVG, where it employs over 100 aircraft technicians servicing DHL, WOW Air, Atlas Air and Amazon Air’s fleet Prime Air. The company anticipates that the continued growth of the e-commerce market, combined with the arrival of the Amazon Air cargo hub, will create an additional 100 or more job opportunities for aircraft technicians in addition to the 100 jobs announced with this project, bringing the company’s employment in Northern Kentucky to 300 by 2020. The anticipated growth would make the CVG location the company’s largest operation in the US.

It also represents our commitment to create jobs and build opportunities in the area and play a part in the economic and innovative growth of the state.”
FEAM Aero is a major line maintenance MRO that was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Miami, Fla. The company has advanced aircraft repair capabilities, a wide line station network and approvals for work with current and next-generation aircraft, including the B787 and A350. FEAM Aero emphasizes technical training, top tier quality control and continuous improvement within its company mission. It operates over 30 facilities across 22 states and has ties globally, including a technical training partnership with United Kingdom-based AMET.
Sen. John Schickel, of Union, thanked the company for its investment and said the project could also assist in relationship building efforts with other companies.
“This is fantastic news for CVG and for the residents of Northern Kentucky,” Sen. Schickel said. “This new facility will help insure that our airport will continue to maintain important relationships with companies like DHL and Amazon. I want to thank FEAM Aero for their continued investment in our community.”
Rep. Diane St. Onge, of Fort Wright, said she was glad to see an existing company create a stronger presence in the region.
“CVG continues to rapidly grow and additional facilities are needed in order to keep the airport running in tip-top shape,” Rep. St. Onge said. “FEAM Aero already has a strong relationship with CVG and I’m pleased to see that relationship continue to thrive.”
Rep. Addia Wuchner, of Florence, said the company has already established a positive reputation in Northern Kentucky.
“FEAM Aero already plays a very important support role in CVG’s operation,” Rep. Wuchner said. “The company’s latest project is welcome news, especially with the additional high-paying aircraft maintenance professional positions.”
Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore said the expansion reflects the growth of the aviation and aerospace industry in the region.
“Today represents another milestone in the string of major investments in aviation in this region over the past few years. Thanks to this latest addition, we now have a robust, extensive and growing supply chain to support the aviation industry – making CVG the fast-growing passenger and cargo airport in North America,” Judge-Executive Moore said. “This is yet another reminder of the commitment of the CVG Airport Board, CEO Candace McGraw and the entire team at CVG to position our region’s airport, and all those involved in the aviation industry in our region, for continued success.”
Candace McGraw, CEO at CVG, said the growth falls in line with planned growth at the airport.
“Among CVG’s business goals are to grow air cargo operations and develop available airport land, both of which are achieved with this project,” McGraw said. “We’re delighted that FEAM and Lynxs chose this site to support the rapid cargo growth at CVG.
